News from the Presidential Council
The AIDA Presidential Council met in Rome on 24 May 2007. The President of AIDA, Prof Dr Carlos Ignacio Jaramillo, opened the meeting by welcoming those present.
Flavia Mazzarella welcomed everyone on behalf of ISVAP and Agostino Gambino did so on behalf of the Italian Chapter of AIDA.
Position of Assistant Secretary-General
Katy-Marie Wilson was appointed as Assistant Secretary-General (Administration) of the Presidential Council following the resignation of Michael Mendelowitz.
AIDA’s Scientific Prize for Investigation
Munoz Paredes was presented with his Commemorative Plaque and thanked the Presidential Council for his prize. The two other prize winners, Wehao Han and Jian Ding, were unable to attend.
AIDA World Congresses
Preparations for the 2010 World Congress in Paris are going well. Thoughts are being given to the subjects to be covered at the World Congress. The French National Chapter has chosen the subject of compulsory, free and forbidden insurance.
Honorary Members of AIDA
It was proposed that Otto Klob, Renzo Capotosti and Michael Mendelowitz should be made Honorary Members of AIDA. The President expressed his gratitude towards these members and stated that they deserved the title of Honorary Members.
In accordance with the AIDA By-Laws, Renzo Capotosti was able to be given the title of Honorary Member immediately. However, the General Assembly must elect Otto Klob and Michael Mendelowitz as Honorary Members. This can be proposed at the next meeting in Chile.
Liber Amicorum - Tribute to Antigono Donati
It was agreed that the second volume of Liber Amicorum would be published. Contributions should be submitted to the Italian Chapter by 31 December 2007.
Date and place of next meeting
The next Presidential Council meeting will take place on 7 November 2007 in Vina del Mar, Chile.
