2. News from the Presidential Council
The Presidential Council met on 25 May 2005 in Berlin, to coincide with the German Congress. Thanks were extended to Professor Hubner for hosting the meeting. Professor Hubner, in turn, welcomed the Presidential Council to Berlin.
XII World Congress
The Argentine Chapter provided an update on the progress made in preparation for the 2006 World Congress. A website had been constructed to provide further information and this will have a newsletter regarding the World Congress posted on it. This website address is www.aida2006.com.ar. A series of Working Party meetings are being planned to coincide with the Congress.
The Argentinian questionnaire (The Influence of Scientific and Technological Innovations on Personal Insurance) will be translated into English and circulated to the National Chapters as soon as possible. The Presidential Council’s questionnaire (Insurance, Reinsurance and the Impact of Terrorism) has already been circulated. This has now been translated into Spanish. Both versions of each questionnaire are available on the AIDA website. The deadline for responding to both questionnaires is 1 November 2005.
Working Parties
The central importance of the Working Parties to the success of the World Congress was stressed. It was suggested that each Working Party should publish an outline of what its programme would be at the 2006 World Congress in Buenos Aires.
Gerrit Winter was appointed as the new Chairman of the State Supervision Working Party. Thanks were extended to Karoly Bard for his past involvement. It was further agreed that the Products, Pollution & New Technologies Working Party would be renamed the Third Party Liability Working Party, and that Osvaldo Contreras-Strauch will be the Chairman. The 'new technologies' area will be added to the Prevention & Insurance Working Party.
The Chairman of the Reinsurance Working Party, Colin Croly, showed the Council copies of the Working Party’s recently published reports. Published by AIDA, these are available to order via the website. Further details are found under the report from the Reinsurance Working Party.
Details of the next Presidential Council meeting
The next meeting of the Presidential Council will take place in Cancun, Mexico, on 2 November 2005. The meeting will be timed to coincide with the CILA conference taking place there from 2-5 of November.
