3. News from the Working Parties
Inaugural Meeting of the Civil Liability Insurance Working Party
Last year at the Presidential Council meeting held on 25 May 2005 in Berlin, a new Working Party on Civil Liability Insurance was formed. Osavldo Contreras Strauch, from Chile, was appointed Chairman of the new working party. His contact details can be viewed on the AIDA website in the Working Parties section.
The new working party held its first meeting in March 2006 at Guadalajara, Mexico, to coincide with the CILA conference. The meeting was a great success and recorded the highest number of attendees at a working party meeting during the Congress, with 38 people. At the meeting Mr Ricardo Peralta and Jose Antonio Gutierrez, both from Chile, were appointed Secretaries.
Some very reknowned people have became members of the Civil Liability Insurance Working Party, including Prof. Helmuth Hubner (Germany), Prof. Bill Dufwa (professor in Paris and Stockholm), Prof. Miguel Sanchez Calero (Spain), Prof. Norma Hird (England) and Prof. Peter Jonstone (Australia). Another 37 members have also joined the working party, many of whom are nationals of South American countries.
Date and Place of Next Working Party Meetings
The next working party meetings are scheduled to take place between Monday 16 October and Wednesday 18 October 2006 in the Congress Hotel, at the Buenos Aires World Congress. For more details of times see the World Congress brochure in the 2006 World Congress section on the AIDA website.
The following Working Parties are meeting: Prevention & Insurance; New Technologies; Motor Insurance; Transport & Insurance; Civil Liability Insurance; Accumulation of Claims and Subrogation; Reinsurance; Pensions; Consumer Protection; Distribution of Insurance; and State Supervision of Insurance.
Reinsurance Working Party
The Reinsurance Working Party will be meeting on Tuesday 17 October 2006 from 5pm - 7 pm, in Buenos Aires, during the World Congress. The meeting will feature a panal discussion on commutations, with panellists from a variety of geographical locations, to provide a comparative discussion of different approaches.
